This mandate followed the liberalization of the banking and financial sector in the country which opened doors to private banks and financial institutions. In the formative stages, the aim would be to alleviate the acute shortage of professional and efficient career bankers, thus promoting quality banking and financial services to the public.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2574be3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2574be3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">To achieve the objectives, the Institute shall:<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b62b3b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b62b3b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>\u00a0Promote educational opportunities designed to aid members in enhancing their banking professional skills.<\/li><li>\u00a0Ensure availability of updated distance learning material\/workbooks to help members in their preparations for professional banking examinations.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u00a0Determine, monitor and maintain the entry requirements and qualification for their recognition.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u00a0Conduct ordinary and executive skills development programmes for its members.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u00a0Collaborate with other Institutes of Bankers in East Africa, Africa and the world at large to ensure that the quality\/standard of our services is monitored and maintained.<\/li><\/ul><h5><strong>PROGRAMS OFFERED<\/strong><\/h5><ol><li><strong>Banking Certificate (BC) Programme<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><p>The Banking Certificate programme will be divided into two levels; BC I and BC II.\u00a0 A candidate will be allowed to sit for BC II examinations after passing all BC I subjects.\u00a0<\/p><p>The Banking Certificate subjects will remain seven; with changes in some of the subject names to reflect practical application of the subjects in respect of provision of banking and other financial services.<\/p><p>Thus; the subjects are grouped and named as follows:<\/p><p>Banking Certificate I<\/p><ul><li>Principle of Banking<\/li><li>Principle of Marketing and Business Ethics<\/li><li>Principle of Management<\/li><li>Information Technology<\/li><\/ul><p>Banking Certificate II<\/p><ul><li>Accounting<\/li><li>Principle of Economics<\/li><li>Principle of Law<\/li><\/ul><h6>Entry Requirements for the Banking Certificate (BC) Programme<\/h6><p>The entry requirements for the Banking Certificate Programme are as follows:<br \/>a) Must either be a bank employee with Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) or Advanced<br \/>Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSE).<br \/>OR<\/p><p>b) Must be a holder of CSE with at least a pass in English and Mathematics.<\/p><p>OR<\/p><p>c) Must be a holder of ACSE with at least one principal level pass and must have passed English<br \/>language or Mathematics at CSE level.<br \/>OR<\/p><p>d) Holder of Certificate from the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) or Certificate<br \/>from Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB), or holder of any<br \/>other related certificate and diploma.<\/p><h5><strong>Award<\/strong><\/h5><p>On successful completion of the Banking Certificate programme;\u00a0<span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">that is, after passing all BC I and BC II <\/span>subjects examinations, a candidate will be awarded a Banking Certificate qualification.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-0f4a14e\" data-id=\"0f4a14e\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02e8d75 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"02e8d75\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Objectives<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-335f0c7 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"335f0c7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The principal objectives of the Institute as laid down in the Constitution are as follows:<\/p><ul><li>To promote, encourage and provide opportunities for members to acquire knowledge of the theory and practice of banking and to facilitate the consideration and discussion of matters of interest to bankers and persons associated with banks and financial institutions;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u00a0To act as a regulatory and disciplinary body for the banking profession and to promote professional integrity and ethics and to set standards for the banking profession;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u00a0To set, mark and conduct or approve examinations in banking subjects and accordingly to issue diplomas and certificates either alone or jointly with other educational or professional bodies;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u00a0To liaise with other educational bodies, colleges and institutions of higher learning and co-operate in the developing of teaching syllabus of the diploma in banking but with the Company remaining the examining body responsible for setting papers, moderating and appointing of examiners;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u00a0To provide facilities for reading, discussion and publication of approved papers by members of the Company and others, and to arrange for the delivery of lectures and the provision of instructions on banking and other subjects of interest or practical use to bankers;<\/li><li>\u00a0To establish, maintain and operate libraries containing, principally, works on banking, commerce, finance, economics, law and all other allied subjects.<\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><h4>2. Certified Professional Banking (CPB)<\/h4><p>The Certified Professional Banking (CPB) programme will have the current eight subjects divided into two levels;\u00a0 CPB Level I and II.\u00a0<span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">There is no change of the subject names because they all reflect practical <\/span>aspects of the subjects in the provision of Banking and other financial services.<\/p><p>Certified Professional Banking level I<\/p><ul><li>Law Relating to Banking Services<\/li><li>International Trade Finance<\/li><li>Management Practice<\/li><li>Strategic Marketing Management<\/li><\/ul><p>Certified Professional Banking level II<\/p><ul><li>The Monetary and Financial System<\/li><li>Financial Services<\/li><li>Lending<\/li><li>Financial Analysis<\/li><\/ul><p>The examinations will contain both descriptive and objective questions to make sure that the whole syllabus is covered in any particular paper set.<\/p><h5>Entry Requirements for the Certified Professional Banking (CPB) Programme<\/h5><p>Entry requirements for the CPB programme are as follows:<br \/>a) Either TIOB\/CIB Banking Certificate or Banking Certificate from any other recognized Institute of<br \/>Bankers.<\/p><p>OR<\/p><p>b) Holders of 1 st Degree or Advanced Diploma in Banking, Accounting and Finance, or Economics. Other Degree\/Advanced Diploma holders are advised to pass BC II first before they proceed to CPB.<\/p><p>OR<\/p><p>c) CPA (T) &#8211; NBAA<\/p><p>OR<\/p><p>d) CPSP &#8211; PSPTB<\/p><h5>Award<\/h5><p>On successful completion of the Certified Professional Banking Programme; that is, after passing CPBI and CPBII subject\u2019s examinations, a candidate will be awarded a
